NEWS OF THE WEEK

 Apple Just Went FULL AI

At today’s WWDC event, they launched Apple Intelligence, a privacy-first, on-device AI system baked into iOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and more. Watch the keynote here.

Here’s what’s wild:

  • ChatGPT is now native on iPhone and Mac: Yes. You can summon GPT-4o from Siri or type right into apps like Notes and Mail.

  • Emails write themselves, and Texts too: Apple’s built-in writing tools can now summarize, rewrite, and even generate content with a tone you choose.

  • Create emojis out of thin air: They dropped Genmoji type what you want, and your phone makes a brand-new emoji.

  • Call Screening is now AI-powered: Your iPhone will answer it for you, ask what they want, then give you the transcript.

  • Real-time translation on FaceTime calls and Messages: Speak English, they hear French. Speak Spanish, you get subtitles. It’s like Google Translate on steroids baked in.

OpenAI hits $10 billion in annual recurring revenue fueled by ChatGPT growth

OpenAI has reached $10 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) as of June 2025, an 82% rise from about $5.5 billion in December 2024, driven by widespread adoption of ChatGPT across consumer products, business tools, and the developer API, excluding Microsoft licensing income; despite this growth, the company still faces around $5 billion in annual losses and anticipates reaching $12.7 billion in revenue by the end of 2025, with ambitions to hit $125 billion by 2029 Source

OpenAI updates ChatGPT’s voice mode with more natural-sounding speech

Over the weekend, OpenAI rolled out an update to Advanced Voice, the feature that lets users have dialogues with ChatGPT out loud. The company says ChatGPT’s voices now sound more natural and fluid, with “subtler intonation,” “realistic cadence” (including pauses and emphasis), and more “on-point expressiveness” for emotions like empathy and sarcasm. Voice mode now also allows users to translate languages more easily. Ask ChatGPT to interpret, and it will continue translating the conversation until you tell it to stop or switch to another language. Source
