Google releases Veo 3.1, adds it to Flow video editor

Google has released Veo 3.1, its newest AI video model, and added it to the Flow video editor. The update is now live through the Gemini app, Gemini API, and Vertex AI, with wider rollout planned soon.

Key Points:

  • Richer Audio Generation: Veo 3.1 now creates natural voices, ambient sounds, and effects that match the video scene, improving realism.

  • Scene Extension: You can add up to a minute of extra footage that continues smoothly from an existing clip without restarting the project.

  • Frame-to-Video Transitions: The model can turn a starting and ending image into a full motion sequence, filling in the action between both frames.

  • Improved Prompt Accuracy: Videos now align more closely with the user’s text and image prompts, providing better control over visual details and tone.

  • Editing Controls in Flow: Flow users can now fine-tune lighting, shadow, and object blending directly inside the editor.

  • Object Tools: You can insert objects into a scene, and an object-removal option is coming soon to automatically rebuild the background.

AI AND INNOVATION

Google Meet launches an AI-powered makeup feature

Google Meet has just introduced a new feature that allows you to apply AI-powered makeup during video calls. It helps you look camera-ready with virtual beauty filters that move naturally with your face.

Details:

  • You can pick from 12 makeup styles, from light and natural looks to bold studio finishes.

  • The makeup stays in place even when you move, drink, or touch your face.

  • It’s turned off by default, but you can switch it on before or during a meeting.

  • Once you pick a style, Meet remembers it for your next calls automatically.

  • The update is rolling out gradually on web and mobile for most Google Workspace and Google One users.

  • It won’t be perfect on every device yet, but it gives people an easy way to look polished
