NEWS OF THE WEEK

Google Gemini can now turn your photos into short videos

Google has added a new feature to its Gemini app that lets you turn any photo into a short video with sound. You just upload a picture, type what you want to see happen, like moving clouds or water, and Gemini creates an 8-second video that brings it to life. The sound matches the scene and can include natural background noise or even talking, depending on your prompt. This is part of Google’s video tool, powered by something called Veo 3. It works on the web now and will be available on phones soon. The videos are marked to show they were made by AI, to help stop fake or misleading content. It’s available to people who have a paid Gemini plan. Source

Goldman Sachs Is Testing an AI Worker on Its Tech Team

Goldman Sachs has started testing Devin, a viral AI coding agent from Cognition Labs, as a “new employee” within its engineering teams. The AI is being used to handle routine tasks like code migration and debugging under human supervision. Early results show Devin boosts productivity by three to four times compared to older tools. While still in the trial phase, Goldman plans to scale its use of Devin, signaling a shift toward AI agents as active teammates rather than background tools. Read More.
