LinkedIn adds a button to report AI-generated slop
LinkedIn has added a new button that lets users report posts and comments that look like low-quality AI content. The option is called “Seems like AI slop,” and it helps LinkedIn improve what people see in their feeds.
Key Points:
Report AI Content: Users can open the three-dot menu on a post and choose “Seems like AI slop” if the content looks generic, fake, or heavily AI-generated.
Feed Improvements: After a user reports a post, LinkedIn removes it from that person’s feed and uses the report to improve future recommendations.
AI Use Is Still Allowed: LinkedIn still allows people to use AI, but posts should include real ideas, personal experience, and the writer’s own opinion.
Creator Feedback: LinkedIn may tell creators through their private analytics when readers think their posts sound fake or rely too much on AI.
Writing Tool Changes: LinkedIn is removing its “Enhance your post” feature and replacing it with a simpler proofreading tool that corrects mistakes without changing the writer’s voice.

Anthropic says Claude accidentally hacked real companies too
Anthropic says Claude accidentally entered the real computer systems of three companies during safety tests. Claude thought it was working inside a fake test network, but a setup mistake gave it access to the real internet.
Details:
Claude was taking part in security tests where it had to enter fake computer systems and find hidden information.
A setup mistake left the internet connection open, even though Claude was told it could not access the real internet.
Claude entered the systems of three real companies by using weak passwords and unprotected computer links.
Some older Claude models kept going after finding signs that the systems were real, while a newer model stopped when it noticed the problem.
Anthropic stopped the tests, checked more than 141,000 test sessions, and contacted the three companies.

The company’s total revenue of $805 million jumped 61% compared to the year-ago quarter while net income was $253 million, up 183%. These beat Wall Street’s expectations. Plus, the company said it expects to hit revenue of $860 million to $870 million with healthy earnings before taxes next quarter as well, which beat expected guidance.
Meta is using AI to quickly launch apps, and more are on the way. During this week’s second-quarter earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the social giant has new apps in the works, following a recent spate of other launches.
Gemini Spark in Chrome can do things like “scheduling viewings for apartments you’ve saved or researching flight options and starting the booking process,” according to Google. However, a human will have to push the button on tasks like making payments.
