OpenAI has just released Sora 2, a new AI model for video & audio generation

OpenAI has launched Sora 2, a new AI model for creating short videos with sound, along with a stand-alone iOS app called Sora. The app is currently invite-only in the U.S. and Canada, with other countries rolling out soon.

Key Points:

• Video + Audio Generation: Sora 2 makes 10-second clips with both visuals and sound. It produces smoother scenes, more realistic physics, and consistent details across shots.

• Cameos and Remixing: Users can record a short clip of themselves to appear in generated videos. The app also lets people remix and build on each other’s creations.

• App Experience: The Sora app looks like a social feed. You scroll through AI-made videos, generate your own, and share them. At this stage you can’t upload personal footage, only use prompts.

• Availability and Access: Right now it’s only on iOS, invite-only, and limited to U.S. and Canadian users. OpenAI says an API and wider rollout will follow.

• Safety Controls: The system blocks explicit or extremist material, restricts how minors can be shown, and requires consent for likeness use. Identity checks and provenance tools are built in to reduce misuse.

Early reviews say Sora 2 creates striking clips and could rival TikTok-style platforms, but access is still limited, and guardrails make the output somewhat constrained.

Meta plans to sell targeted ads based on data in your AI chats

Meta is rolling out a new update that will let it use your AI chat data to sell targeted ads on Facebook and Instagram. The change starts on December 16, 2025 and will apply to most countries outside the EU, UK, and South Korea.

Details:

• Ad Targeting From Chats: If you talk about hobbies or products in Meta AI chats, that info will be added to your ad profile. For example, mention hiking, and you might see ads for boots or trails.

• Sensitive Topics Excluded: Meta says it won’t use private subjects like religion, health, politics, race, or sexual orientation for ad targeting.

• User Notifications: People will start getting alerts about the change from October 7.

• No Opt-Out: There isn’t a way to stop this if you choose to use Meta AI.

• Regional Limits: Because of stricter privacy laws, the update won’t roll out in the EU, UK, or South Korea for now.
