AI AND ETHICS
Man poisoned after following ChatGPT’s unsafe health advice
ChatGPT gave a man dangerous health advice that sent him to the hospital with hallucinations. It illustrates why you should never follow AI medical advice without consulting a doctor.
Details:
The 60-year-old man asked ChatGPT for a healthy salt alternative. It told him to use sodium bromide, a toxic chemical.
He took it for three months and started having extreme thirst, trouble walking, acne, paranoia, and both visual and hearing hallucinations.
Doctors diagnosed him with bromism, a rare poisoning from too much bromide.
He stayed in the hospital for three weeks, got fluids and medicine, and recovered fully.
Experts say AI can sound confident even when it is wrong, and using it for health advice without medical oversight can be dangerous.

Click on Agents from the main menu and select Create your first agent. You can pick a pre-built agent or choose to make a custom one.
Type Your Agent Task (Example you can use):
“Whenever I receive an email that includes a clear action (e.g., ‘Please review this’, ‘Can you send…’, ‘Let me know…’, ‘Schedule a meeting…’), extract the task description and create a new task in my Notion database titled ‘Inbox Tasks’. Include the task description, sender name, email subject, and received date.”
Connect your Gmail account and your Notion account when prompted.
Click on create, and Zapier will set up your AI agent, and you’ll be able to see it running. You can test it by sending yourself an email with an action request and checking your Notion database for the new task.
